Cafeteria Food Not The Same

Category: School News — Chuck @ 8:01 pm

Do you remember eating cafeteria food? What was your favorite or least favorite? Whatever it was the menu has changed. Here’s what’s on it for tomorrow:

Pizza

Turkey Submarine

Egg Salad Platter

Spinach/Garden Cup

Fresh Fruit Cup/ Peaches

Chilled Orange Juice

What ever happened to hamburgers, french fries, tater tots, etc.? What is spinach/garden cup and what self-respecting teen would eat it? The pizza sounds okay, as long as there’s some major amounts of cheese and pepperoni on it!

  1. My most memorable meal was the “Shepard’s Pie”, served up by particularly angry cafeteria workers! Peanut butter slopped on celery sticks come to mind. Whatever the food, it seemed that Dennis Berkery had an uncanny ability to hit people with it…

  2. Ahh. Who could forget shepherd’s pie? I guess Nancy got the word out on this blogging thing. I think should be fun. Have a great day.

  3. I always kind of liked the Shepherd’s Pie! I tried to make some a few years back for my daughter but just couldn’t replicate it exactly…a person must have to have an industrial-strength kitchen to pull it off correctly! But I always really looked forward to the yeast rolls.

Did everyone else feel like a slug in the class period right after lunch? And to think that we survived it all without air-conditioning!

  4. How about the chocolate milkshakes that were frozen solid for the first five minutes?

  5. I can’t believe no one has mentioned those grey “hamburgers” they used to serve us. Not only were they made of Grade B meat product, but they were cold! It’s no wonder that so many people had eating disorders, after trying to choke down mystery burgers with a frozen cup of chocolate-colored ice crystals!

  6. Oddly enough, all I can remember are the yeast rolls..I must of had a very insubstanial diet. {although Shepards Pie vaguely comes to mind}or I have permenantly blocked that aspect of high school from memory.

  8. Shepards Pie and milkshakes were my “favorite” or better yet only lunch I ate. Tasty Home cooking in Tuttlebee Plaza has shepards pie the first Tuesday of the month. I have only had it one and it was pretty good. Not cafeteria food but pretty good.
